Atlantic Journalism Award winners announced

“Rise of Generation Plus”; March 2011 cover of Atlantic Business Magazine won Gold

This weekend in Fredericton the winners of the 2012 Atlantic Journalism Awards were revealed. In the three magazine-only categories, Nova Scotia Open to the World won Gold for best article, Saltscapes won gold for best profile, and Atlantic Business Magazine won gold for best cover.

Atlantic Business Magazine also won gold in Arts & Entertainment, which like other topical categories is open to all media.

The recipient of the 2011 AJA’s Lifetime Achievement Award is the late Graham W. Dennis, owner and publisher of The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, NS. Mr. Dennis died last year at the age of 84 after spending more than 57 years with the newspaper.

The AJAs are also remarkable for their commitment to supporting excellence in student journalism; there are nine prizes/scholarships awarded to students:
